How Chinese Copper Prices Affect Washer and End Cap Quotations

Raw material is one part of the quotation

A copper market quotation describes a raw-material reference. A manufactured component requires the specified stock form, material condition and production route. Drawing tolerances, forming or machining, inspection, surface requirements and packing all affect the finished-part quotation. A movement in spot copper therefore does not translate automatically into the same percentage change in a part price.

A simple material-cost illustration

For illustration only, a raw-material increase of RMB 1,000 per metric tonne equals RMB 1,000 divided by 1,000,000, or RMB 0.01 per gram. For a hypothetical 10-gram part, the net-weight material effect is RMB 0.01 × 10 before accounting for stock yield, processing or any scrap recovery. This is a calculation example, not JOTON’s costing formula or a product offer.

Why identical weights can have different prices

Two components with the same net weight may use different starting stock and manufacturing steps. Order volume, tooling, setup, yield and agreed inspection can change the unit cost. Annealing is a heat treatment used to alter material condition; whether it is needed depends on the approved specification. Confirm any scrap credit or material-price adjustment in the commercial agreement rather than assuming it.

How to request a comparable quotation

Send a dimensioned drawing with revision, copper grade, material condition, tolerances and order quantity. Include destination, packing and inspection requirements. Ask the supplier to state quotation validity, currency and delivery scope, and whether the price is fixed or linked to an agreed material benchmark. Compare offers against the same specification and commercial terms.
